The use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process

Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies (hereinafter ‘AI technologies’) cannot be used to draw/generate research results, findings and conclusions. AI technologies should be applied with human oversight and control. The author is responsible and accountable for the originality and content of his/her manuscript, which includes the following:

  • Reviewing and modifying the output of AI technologies (eg. to prevent bias, factual errors etc.)
  • Ensuring that the manuscripts represents the author’s original research, analysis, opinion, interpretation etc.
  • Ensuring that the use of AI technologies is clear and transparent for readers, peer reviewers and editors.
  • Checking the terms and conditions of the applied AI technologies to safeguard data protection, intellectual property and other rights.
  • Ensuring that the manuscripts does not violate other policies of CEA Publishing.

 

Authorship

AI technologies cannot be listed as an author or co-author, nor cited as an author in the manuscript.

 

AI detection

To ensure the publication of original materials, all articles are subject to AI detection. If a high percent of AI use is detected the author must modify his/her manuscript.

 

Declaration

To ensure transparency the author must disclose a declaration (at the end of the article) regarding the use of AI technologies:

During the preparation of this work the author(s) used [NAME TOOL/SERVICE] in order to [FOR WHAT PURPOSE]. The following parts of the manuscript were edited with the assistance of AI and/or AI-assisted technologies: [SPECIFY WHICH PARTS OF THE TEXT]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.

 

The use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the peer review process

To ensure confidentiality and authors’ rights, peer reviewers should not submit manuscripts or any parts of manuscripts to generative AI and AI-assisted technologies.

To ensure confidentiality and authors’ rights, editors should not submit manuscripts or any parts of manuscripts to generative AI and AI-assisted technologies.

 

 

The Publisher follows the development of AI technologies, and updates the current policy accordingly.
