Constitutional and Legal Protection of State and National Symbols in Central Europe
Abstract
The volume examines the comparative legal analysis of seven Central European countries from the point of view of the way and extent to which the countries of the region protect their state and national symbols. The introductory study of the volume presents the situation in Europe, compared to which the individual chapters as country studies give an idea of how the Central European region relates to its own national symbols. The individual country studies cover the historical development of state and national symbols in the given country, their current constitutional regulation, the types of state and national symbols, and the means of their protection under criminal law. With all this, the book aims to provide a comprehensive picture of the contemporary regulation of state and national symbols, which constitute the common cultural heritage of European countries and nations and express their legal historical traditions, with special regard to the attitude of the countries of Central Europe to state and national symbols.
